Paper-I: Objective Type Test
The aim of this test is to measure candidate’s reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude and proficiency in English and General Awareness.
The aim of the paper is to test the candidate’s ability to read and understand serious discursive prose and to express his ideas clearly and correctly in English.
Paper-III: Social and Economic Problems
(a) Economic Problems Facing India: Population, Poverty, Inflation, Unemployment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Industrial Development, Industrial Relations, Trade Union Movement and Urbanisation-Current efforts to solve the Problems.
(b) Social Problems Facing India: Structure of Indian Society, Institution of Caste, Joint family and Nuclear family, Problems of Minorities and Tribals, Education and Human Resources Development.
(c) International Problems: The current world economic problems, the relations between the developed and developing economies and International Finance and Trade. (For Paper III the candidates are expected to read standard books on Indian Economy/Social Problems normally prescribed for similar subjects by the Universities for graduate level examinations. They are also expected to read newspapers/articles published in Journals devoted to economic/social problems to keep themselves informed of the latest developments. This may be taken as general guideline only. Candidate’s performance will be judged on the basis of their analytical approach to problems rather than mere statement of facts.)
