Legal Services Day
Legal Services Day is celebrated every year on 9th of November in all the states Authorities. At this day variety of legal literacy camps and functions are organized at many places in the capital city of the country. People from government as well as non government organizations take part in the functions and camps related to the Legal Services Day.
The 9th of November is selected as the Legal Services Day which was first started by the Supreme Court in the year 1995 all across the India to offer help and support to the weaker and poor group of sections of people which may be women, disabled persons, Scheduled Tribes, children, Scheduled Castes, human trafficking victims as well as natural calamities victims.
Main objectives of the Legal Service Day:
The aim of celebrating the Legal Services Day is to offer the free of charge, proficient and legal services to the people of weaker sections of society. It also organizes the Lok Adalats to make safe the legal system operations and encourages the righteousness of people on the equality basis. Various authorities go to the districts of Nagaland in order to perform the authorized aid programmes and campaigns related to the legal awareness. The day celebration is organized all over India to increase awareness of free legal aid towards every weak citizen of the country. It aims to make sure the availability of free services to the weaker section people as well as making them conscious about their rights.
The legal message has been send by the government authorities that all the people who come under underprivileged citizens (who are not capable to afford the legal services), must get free legal services as their legal right. It has also been noted that this service is free legal aid which is not associated with charity. All the legal practitioners should know their constitutional duty that it is the legitimate right for all the legal beneficiaries.
The significance of organizing the free services in the Nagaland has been emphasized by the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Hushili Sema where the disabled people of society would be benefited and assisted in variety of ways. Various NGOs also played their great role in developing the services by attending the program. The act, regulations and rules was first implemented by the Sikkim state in 1995 which was continued by a number of states by organizing the services (training programs and awareness) related for removing the crucial issues of woman, children and youths.
It has also been stated that the students and children of the early age should be aware about the constitutional rights and laws relating to them. There is also need to be aware about the child labor and old parents by opening the welfare centers. The state government has supported and cooperated a lot by granting the funds needed for the SSLSA operations.
