Meghalaya Police Service Eligibility Criteria
Meghalaya Public Service Commission’s Meghalaya Police Service Exam Eligibility Details are as follows.
Eligibility Conditions:
Age Limit: The age limit should between 21 to 27 years. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for ST/Castes.
Educational Qualification: Candidate’s must hold a degree of any University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or any Foreign University recognized by the Government of Meghalaya.
Physical Standard: The candidates shall have certain minimum physical standards and shall undergo a physical efficiency test (PET) as follows.
(i) Minimum Height Requirement:
Male candidates: 157 centimeter for (ST)
162 centimeter for others
Female candidates: 152 centimeter for (ST)
157 centimeter for others
Exam Pattern: The Competitive examination comprises of 2 examinations Preliminary and Main Examination/ Interview.
Part– A:
I. The Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers as follows :
Paper I – General Studies – 150 marks.
Paper II – One subject to be selected from the list of optional subjects – 300 marks.
Total 450 marks.

I. The main Examination will consist of the following papers :

Candidates will not be allowed to offer the following combination of subjects :
(a) Political Science and International Relations and Public Administration.
(b) Commerce and Accountancy and Management.
(c) Anthropology and Sociology.
(d) Mathematics and Statistics.
(e) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
(f) Management and Public Administration.
(g) Of the the Engineering subject viz Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering – Not more than one subject.
(h) Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science.
Note: The Question papers for the Examination will be of conventional (essay) type
Selection Procedure: Meghalaya Police Service selection process will consists of Physical Efficiency test, Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Interview.
i.Physical Efficiency Test: The candidates shall have certain minimum physical standards and shall undergo a physical efficiency test (PET) as elaborated below:-
All candidates will be required to qualify in a 10 (ten) Kilometer race in 60 (sixty) minutes or less for male and 5 (five) Kilometer race in 35 (thirty five) minutes or less for female candidates.
ii. Preliminary Examination: The Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers. Paper I will consist of General Studies for 150 marks and Paper II will consists of Optional subjects for 300 Marks.
iii. Main Examination: The candidates who qualify in preliminary examination will be called for main examination. Main Exam will consists of eight Papers for 2300 Marks. The question papers will be of conventional (essay) type.
iv. Interview: The candidates who qualify in main examination will be called for interview. Personal interview will be conducted for 250 marks.
