Sikkim Police Constable Eligibility Criteria

Sikkim Police Constable eligibility details are as follows.

Eligibility Criteria:

I. Age Limit:

i. For Constable-GD: Candidates age limit should be 18 to  22 years.

ii. For Constable-Driver: Candidates age limit should between  20 to 25 years.

Age Relaxation: In addition to the age prescribed above the candidates will be given relaxation of 5 yrs. for BL/ST/SC, 4 yrs. for MBC and 3 yrs. for OBC. Upper age limit for HG candidates are 32 yrs. for BL/ST/SC, 31 yrs. for MBC and 30 yrs. for OBC.

II. Educational Qualification:

i. For GD Constable & Constable Drivers: Candidates should possess minimum class X passed from recognized Board for open candidates and class VIII passed from recognized Board for HG candidates who were enrolled before 04-09-2012 and class X who were enrolled after 04-09-2012.

ii. For Followers: Candidates should possess minimum class VI passed.

iii. For Constables/Technical: Candidates should possess minimum class XII passed in PCM.

III. Physical Requirements:

(a) Height – 5’3’’ minimum for male
– 5’ min. for female

(b) Chest – 32” min. with min. 2” expansion for male.

(c) Weight – 50 Kgs. min. for male
– 45 Kgs. min. for female

IV. Driving License: Candidates must have an effective Transport (T) License for Constable Driver posts.

Exam Pattern: Sikkim Police Constable examination will consists of different stages like., (a) Physical Measurement, (b) Physical Efficiency/Endurance Test (PET), (c) Written Examination (d) Skill Test (For Drivers and Followers) & (e) Viva-voce.

I. Physical Efficiency/Endurance Test (PET): Each candidate will get only one chance in 100 mtr. and 1500 mtr run and three chances each in High Jump, Long Jump and Short Put.

4.55 mtr and above  15 marks
 5. Short Put (16 lb) below 5.10 mtr.  Fail
5.10 – 6.10 mtr.  9 marks
6.10 – 7.10 mtr.  12 marks
7.10 mtr. and above.   15 marks

ii. For Female Candidates:

5. Short Put (16 lb) below 4.10 mtr Fail
4.10 – 4.60 mtr. 9 marks
4.60 – 5.10 mtr 12 marks
5.10 mtr and above. 15 marks

II. Written Examination: The written test for Open and HG candidates shall be set on class Xth and VIIIth standard and for Constable Technical class XII th standard respectively as below.
1. General Knowledge (Sikkim & India) – 20 marks
2. History of Sikkim (Objective) – 20 marks
3. Reasoning Test (Objective) – 20 marks
4. Short Essay & Letter Writing – 20 marks

Selection Procedure: The candidates are selected through the process of –
(a) Physical Measurement,
(b) Physical Efficiency/Endurance Test (PET),
(c) Written Examination
(d) Skill Test (For Drivers and Followers) &
(e) Viva-voce.

I. Physical Measurement: All the candidates who have applied for this post have to possess physical requirements as mentioned in notification.

II. Physical Efficiency / Endurance Test (PET): The candidates who possess minimum physical requirements will be called for PET. Physical efficiency test will be conducted in the events of 100 Mtr. Run, 1500 Mtr Run, High Jump, Long Jump and Short Put (16 lb) for male and female candidates.

III. Written Examination: The candidates who have qualified in physical efficiency test will be called for written examination. Written test will be conducted for 80 marks. The written test for Open and HG candidates shall be set on class Xth and VIIIth standard. Writte test will comprise of General Knowledge (Sikkim & India), History of Sikkim (Objective), Reasoning Test (Objective) and Short Essay & Letter Writing. Each test will carry 20 Marks.

IV. Skill Test: The candidates who qualify written examination will be called for skill test for the post of Constable – Driver & Technical/ Tradesman. Skill test will be conducted for 20 marks.

V. Viva-voce Test: Only those candidates who qualify in written test shall be called for viva-voce. Viva-voce will be conducted for 25 marks.

Merit List of HG candidates will be kept en-block below OPEN category candidates owing to their different minimum required qualification and separate syllabus for written examination. However, those willing to appear from open category may do so.
