Heavy water from Iran bought by US in nuclear deal

United States has struck a deal to purchase 32 metric tons of Iranian heavy water, a key component used to run nuclear reactors. The deal helps Iran curb its atomic program in exchange for billions of dollars in relief, under a deal agreed with US last year. The US Energy Department’s Isotope Program bought heavy water from a subsidiary of the  Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, for $8.6 million.
