North India to get more nuclear power plants

Minister of State in PM’s office, Jitendra Singh informed Lok Sabha on Wednesday that government plans to set up nuclear power plants in North India. The plants are slated to come up in Uttarakhand, UP, Haryana and Punjab. The minister responded to questions on the recent leak at Kakrapar Atomic Power Station by saying that the leak was an ‘incident’ and not an ‘accident’, and the plant is under regular shut down.
