China is home to world’s longest insect

Scientists say they have discovered world’s longest insect in south China. The creature, name Phryganistria chinesis Zhao, which measures 62 centimetres, breaks the record held by a 56.7 cm stick insect found in Malaysia in 2008. Zhao Li, from the Insect Museum of West China, discovered the insect, which he first thought to be a tree twig. The hatchling of the insect measures about 26 cm.
