World Mosquito Day
World Mosquito Day, observed annually on 20 August, is a commemoration of Indian doctor Sir Ronald Ross’s discovery in 1897 that female mosquitoes transmit malaria between humans. Malaria hasn’t been an issue in the United States since the 1950’s. Today, mosquitoes are mostly a nuisance.
